However, if this line is drawn incorrectly, you will be trapped in a closed world, resulting in a narrowing of vision and unwanted consequences.

Boundaries are recalled in connection with the “defense mechanism” presented by Freud.
In the Kojien dictionary, it is defined as “an automatic and unconscious adaptation to protect oneself in situations of anxiety, conflict, or frustration, including projection and rationalization”. It includes projection and rationalization. As explained, it seems to be interpreted that those defense mechanisms are triggered by the fact that the area enclosed by the “boundary line” is shrinking or remaining narrow.

In order to maintain a state of being comfortable and spontaneous for oneself, one is required to find and expand “healthy boundaries”.

Setting boundaries also means clarifying “who I am,” “who you are,” and “who you are not”.
From another perspective, if this boundary cannot be created successfully and remains ambiguous, it can lead to an unstable mental state and, in some cases, a situation that can cause discrepancies in daily life.

Given that every person is unique, the way in which boundaries are set is also different for each individual. Therefore, in order to set boundaries, we must begin by getting to know ourselves. Those boundaries will also change as you grow and mature.

Self-concept and experience have a strong relationship, but many people are unaware of this.
“Healthy boundaries” expand the more area your self-concept and experience coincide.
A small area protected by boundaries also means that one’s experiential knowledge is limited, making one vulnerable compared to those who have a variety of experiences and continue to change and grow themselves. They are less able to be resilient when the time comes.

Expanding the area inside the boundaries is also a way to increase a person’s resilience. Coaching is a powerful tool to help each person achieve this.

Having “healthy boundaries” reduces anxiety and fear, even when taking on new challenges. By taking the initiative, you will be able to build positive relationships with family, friends, and others involved in society.

Boundaries are lines that we set up to protect ourselves from other unhealthy or aggressive behaviors in our way of life, mind, and mind.
