The word “coach” is said to have originated from the name of a village in northern Hungary called K\u00f3cs (also pronounced Kochi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in this village in the 15th century that the manufacture of coaches for private use began, using steel springs for suspension. Since there were no rubber tires in those days, riding comfort must have been dramatically different from that of a horse-drawn carriage without suspension. The revolutionary performance of the Kochi horse-drawn carriage led to the popularization of Kochi as a general name for private carriages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later in the 19th century, college students of the time began to refer to their tutors by the nickname “coach. The idea behind this was that a good tutor would take meticulous care of college students according to their abilities and characteristics, so that “it is like having a private coach to take you to your destination in comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, the image of the “Spartan Coach” that has taken root in Japan is different from the origin of the image of the coach, which is “Kochi’s private carriage is comfortable \u2192 Coach as an excellent tutor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, we should not short-circuit the idea that an excellent teacher is the same as a coaching coach. One of the principles of coaching is that the relationship between coach and client is equal.
